One Year

I knew this day would come eventually. I feel like it snuck up on me. It has been one of the most fun things I have accomplished. I am sort of proud of myself for finishing this project. If I could redo any months it would be May and December. I feel like those were the two months that I was the busiest.  I apologize. But over all I couldn’t have been happier with how this year has gone. Thank you for sharing it with me.

Tonight is the last night. It’s the last day that I am going to be writing to you about my celebrations. The last day that I will be required to write on here. Not to say that I won’t come up with some exciting to tell you about next year. But for now. I’m done. I made it past St. Patrick’s Day. I did it. I completed a One Year Project. I can cross it off my bucket list. It’s really on there you know.

You know at the end of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, when Ferris finally makes it to his room after running through his neighborhood and he throws the baseball to turn off the snoring? That’s what today is. Today is me throwing the baseball at my snoring sound machine. I’ve been running through the city. Singing in parades. Eating at Chez Quis. And having the best year ever. I have all of you to thank. But now I’m finished.

So thank you for putting up with my nonsense and laughing at my jokes, or laughing because I try and tell jokes and fail. I am going to miss all of you quite a lot. I feel like my days will be missing something without you. I will try and post occasionally, when the void in my heart is just too much. Did you feel like that was a line from a movie? I did. I instantly hated how dramatic it was after I said it.

Have the most fantastic New Year’s Eve. I’m wearing sequins.

So this is it. I have no more jokes and no more holidays. I like you and I’ll miss you, so much.

Sincerely,

The End

PS: I got a little teary…

Tomorrow.

Tomorrow begins my year-long adventure. It’s going to be a party literally. I have been gearing up for ways to celebrate the next four days in Paris and things are looking pretty good.

New Year’s Day will have pictures from our celebration tonight. January 2 is going to be a challenge, I still have no idea how to celebrate. January 3 is going to blow your mind. I’m going to celebrate as many of the listed holidays as possible. I’m getting my LOTR on for the next few days. If you don’t know that reference, then we aren’t friends. Well we are, but I secretly judge you. Sorry. January 4 will be taking place in an airport/on an airplane. And Pop Music Day is going to be hilarious.

I will probably be posting these celebration stories in the evening. Based on my travel schedule, that would be the easiest.

I am really excited. I have a secret dream that this is what I can do with the rest of my life. So I don’t have to get a real job and I can just write this cool blog and show people how to celebrate obscurity. If you know anyone that like to sponsor parties and whatnot send them my way. P Diddy has a giant themed party once a year doesn’t he? It’s where everyone wears white? Right? Maybe he is looking to expand his celebratory skills. I’m sure one of you is besties with P Diddy, Puff Daddy, Sean Combs, Sean P Diddy Combs, Diddy you get the idea. Send out a letter to all of the aforementioned names so to be sure he will get one of the letters and tell him he needs to celebrate with me. That plan is fool-proof.

I love New Year’s Eve. It’s a great holiday, a lot of hype but still great if you celebrate well. Grab a stranger and kiss them. That would make for a memorable night. And then forever when someone asks that stranger what the greatest New Year’s Eve-r was they will say, “This one time I was at a party and this really great stranger just grabbed me and kissed me. It was like it was from a movie!” And BOOM you are going down in history as This Really Great Stranger. So that’s an option for celebrating tonight.

Also, if you are going to be at one of those fancy parties where everyone starts singing Auld Lang Syne at midnight and you’re freaking out because you don’t know the lyrics and you are trying to impress a really great stranger you are in luck! Here are the lyrics! Now you can be as awesome as the people who know the lyrics past the line, “If old acquaintance be forgot.”

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?

CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
and surely I’ll buy mine !
And we’ll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS

We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.

CHORUS

We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.

CHORUS

And there’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.

CHORUS

If you really want to get in The Celebrationist spirit, perform this song at your party. I would love it and so would that really great stranger you just kissed.

Happy New Year’s Eve to all!

Sincerely,

I’m celebrating 7 hours before you. It’s basically time travel.
